The good news is that, with a lot of hard work, you can do it! The bad news is that it’s one hell of a lot of hard work in terms of both hours and emotional commitment.
This is a very good book on the overall philosophy of trading. Although this book is focused on intraday trading of SMB Capital Traders, it is packed with wisdom, psychology and routines of great traders. The anecdotes at the beginning provided interesting insights to trading in a prop firm. But after a few chapters, they were just too many and too painful to sieve through for the actual trading stuff. Too many bragging and irrelevant stories, there were even interview tips to get through to the second interview at his firm. As for the requisites for One Good Trade, there’s nothing new that you wouldn’t get from other trading books.

There are just too many ideas to go through in a short review but I really liked Mike Bellafiore’s idea of adaptability. To be a successful trader, you need to experience many different markets and be quick to adapt to new methods when things dont go your way. With great emphasis of hard work and a survival mindset, this is a book to help you become a consistently profitable trader. Really good described life or prop firm traders and the process from rookie trader to senior. I’d highly recommend this book to someone who would like to understand the intellect and dedication it takes to become a highly successful proprietary trader.

Fewer trades are made during the middle of the trading day because statistically forex their win rate is lowest. The section I liked best about the book was actually the last 2 chapters which wrote about how Bella’s trading methods adapted to the different historical market environments.
Do not be the first to buy, let the market stop going down, then buy a little. Let the stocks hold higher and then load up when they do. Only take on huge positions after the market has stopped going down and the stocks and market has held higher.
